Ouverture is an a cappella performance piece for a double quintet — five singers and five treadmills. Set in a threshold-like space-time, the work explores the performative tension that precedes the event — both of the show and of life itself. The preparations and rituals of opera intertwine with those of sports and wellness practices, in search of a wellbeing, or a form, that is always still to come. Reality and fiction thus converge in the voices of the singer-performers, questioning the horizons, escape routes, and gazes that shape contemporary life.
